A very unique club is under development for advocates of streetcars in Topeka who will contribute a rail to the trust account that is being set up which will allow local contributions to help fund the laying of streetcar tracks in Topeka. This club will have features to be newsworthy by the end of May. It is being designed by the very smartest minds in Topeka. Watch the "NEWS" button link on this web site for any updates on the Trolley Club. Here's how it will work:

The Trolley Club Method of Raising Funds for Rail

The trend of the future seems to be running streetcars on the 115 pound light rail (T-rail). This rail is 13 yards (39 feet) in length and weighs 1495 pounds. The standard cost is $1200.00 per American ton. Rail costs have fluctuated between $670.00 and $902.00 per 39 foot rail. Average per foot price for this rail is $20.00 per ft. Steel is a commodity and will fluctuate with market trends. Eighty foot rails are used also.
